Hawthorn Band History

Copyright : 2005 & 2022 by Lindsay R. Paterson - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA.

Welcome to my website which outlines the history of Australia's most successful brass band.

The original "Hawthorn Band History" was part of my www.bandhistory.i8.com site but I think more can be presented herein.  Please feel free to contact me with your input (unless you're into the grubby, vindicive politics which can really spoil our great movement...... in which case you can just go have a cup of tea and try to get your head together!!).

In August/September 2005, ex-members Max Hunter & Russ Boon kindly made some their materiels available for posting herein.  If you have anything to do with the history of the band, PLEASE contact the site author so it can be preserved for the future.

More recently I've had the pleasure of catching up with Healesville-based musicologist Dr. John Whiteoak who was able to throw more light on the band up to about 1930.
